AGRICLICS & AGRIBUSINESS CENTRES- An Innovative Idea

Better Farming by Every Farmer
The Ministry of Agriculture Government of India, in association with NABARD, SFAC and MANAGE have launched a unique programme of AGRI-CLINICS & AGRI-BUSINESS CENTRES to take better methods of farming to each and every farmer across the country.

This programme aims to tap the expertise available in the large pool of Agriculture Graduates. Irrespective of whether you are a fresh graduate or not, or whether you are currently employed or not, you can set your own AGRICLINIC or AGRIBUSINESS CENTRE and offer professional extension services to innumerable farmers.

Agribusiness Centers would provide paid services for enhancement of agriculture production and income of farmers. Centres would need to advice farmers on value-added options, key agricultural information (including perhaps even internet-based weather forecast), price trends, and markets news, risk mitigation and crop insurance, credit and input access, as well as critical sanitary and phyto-sanitary considerations, which the farmers have to keep in mind.

The Objectives of this programme are

To supplement the efforts of government extension system.
To make available supplementary sources of input supply and services to needy farmers.
To provide gainful employment to agriculture graduates in new emerging areas I agricultural sector.

Training to set up your Agriclinics or Agribusiness centre.

As an integral part of this nationwide initiative, specialized training will be provided to Agriculture Graduates interested in setting up such a centre. Being provided free of cost , the 2-month training course will be offered by select institutes across the country. Initiated by SFAC, and co-ordinated by MANAGE, the course comprise Entrepreneurship and Business Management, as well as skill improvement modules in your chosen areas of activity.

Agriclinics And Agribusiness centres Training @ Terra Firma Bio-Technologies Ltd.

Terra Firma Biotechnologies Ltd. (TFBL) is one of the first private organizations selected by MANAGE for providing training to the agripreneurs in Karnataka and to start the training in Bangalore. We are having all the infrastructure for providing the training to the candidates in a professional way. Our training division is having area of 1820sq. ft. which is fully equipped with required infrastructure like computers with internet connection, projector, television for entertainment etc.

As theory classes are concerned, we have our own expertise in the panel and as well recourse persons from various agro-based industries for providing the lectures and their available assistance to our trainees.

This help the trainees to get acquainted with the recent trends in agri-business.

We are also conducting field the real experience of agri-business by visiting the various agro-based units.

We are also providing the lectures on Management skills and Information technology so that when candidate starts his business, he or she should not be devoid of these skill. As this era is of fast communication and technology, so our Endeavour to make our agriculture graduates to be fully equipped with internet application for the fast communication and online trading. Our Agri-information division is helping our trainees in this regard.

First Bach Training:5 th June 2002 to 4 th Aug 2002

The first batch of Agri-business centres training programme was organized by 5 th June 2002 to 4 th Aug 2002 at the training division of TFBL with strength of thirty agricultural graduates. Among the thirty there were three lady candidates. The inaugural function was chaired by Dr.Subramanya ,Commissioner of Agriculture, Govt.of Karnataka. He explained the present scenario of agriculture and extension system of India and then he enlightened the trainees how to private Agriclinics & Agribusiness centre can help to change the present condition of Agriculture.

The Other guests who shared their experience and view with the trainees were Dr.Veeresh, Ex-Vice chancellor, UAS Bangalore, Mr.Doraj, Ex-vice president, Rallis India, Mr.NR.Bhat and Mr.R.Ganesh, MD, Terra Firma Biotechnologies Ltd. Special invitees were from NABARD & SFAC. Nodal Officer Mr.KG.Nanjundappa welcomed the chief guests. Mr. Abid S.S gave the final vote of thanks.

The valeditory function of the first batch of traning program was held at Training Division of TFBL on 4 th Aug 2002. Dr. Veeresh graced the occasion as a chief guest. Mr.R.Ganesh MD, Terra Firma Biotechnologies Ltd. Presided over the function. Nodal Offer, Mr.K.G.Nanjundappa distributed the certificate to the trainees. Final vote of thanks was given by Director-Projects Mr.Mahabaleshwar.

Second Batch- 1 Round Training:2 nd Sept 2002 to 1 st Nov 2002.

The Second batch of Agribusiness centre training program was organized from 2 nd September 2002 to 1 st November 2002 with thirty candidates. This time there was only one lady candidate. The inaugural function was chaired by Dr.Veeresh and other guest were Mr.Bharath Kumar, DGM, NABARD, Mr, Bhuyan, Co-ordinator, SFAC, Mr.Suresh Heblikar, Environmentalist, Mr.R.Ganesh , MD, Terra Firma Biotechnologies. Ltd.

Mr.Bhuyan and Mr.Bharath Kumar explained the role of their organization in this program and prospects of hiech agriculture in India.

The valeditory function was organized one day before on 31 st Oct 2002 at Training division, as we had holiday on 1 st Nov. due to Kannada Rajyotsava. Dr.Veeresh graced the occasion as chief guest. Mr.R.Ganesh, MD,Terra Firma Biotechnologies Ltd. Presided over the function and other guest was Mr.Chiniwar, Senior Manager, Agriculture consultance services, Canara Bank. Nodal Officer, Mr.K.G.Nanjundappa distributed the certificate and project reports to the trainees. Final Vote of thanks was given by Director-Projects Mr.Mahabaleshwar.

Bank should not insist for Collateral security for loan up to 10 lakhs under this scheme
Soft loans should be considered as the equity loan at 1% rate of interest.
Term loan and working capital should be provided at 8% rate of interest per annum on reducing balance.
